Keeping Elm Ridge Waterways Clean: Small Actions, Big Impact
May 5, 2026
Elm Ridge WCID is committed to service and striving for progress, but we need your help to protect our local environment. By making a few small changes to your daily routine, you can make a Big Impact on the health of our community.
How You Can Help
Smarter Lawn Care: Use fertilizers and pesticides sparingly. Excess chemicals can run off during rainstorms, harming aquatic life.
Clean Up After Pets: Pet waste contains harmful bacteria. Always scoop it, bag it, and trash it to keep our water safe.
Manage Yard Debris: Keep grass clippings and leaves out of the street. Not only do they cause algae blooms by adding excess nutrients to the water, but they can also block drainage and cause localized flooding.
Prevent Illegal Dumping: Never pour oil, paint, or household chemicals down storm drains.
